Useful protocol parameters
A short table of some commonly requested protocols is seen here:

Vegetative viruses / Bacteria… 30 minutes, 80 °C

Hepatitis virus………………………… 10 minutes, 100 °C

Bacillus stearothermophilus (heat-liking bacteria)……
    15 minutes, 121 °C    or 3 min, 134 °C

Prions (e.g., Bovine Spongifom Encephalopathy),
Creuzfeld-Jakob……………………… 60 minutes, 134 °C

Spores………………………………………  5 minutes, 105 °C

Check your steam sterilizer during its lifetime
Be certain that your steam sterilizer remains as safe as it was when it left the NÜVE factory. Pressure Equipment Device (PED) standards recommend external testing every year, internal testing every 3 years and strength testing every 9 years.

Use the correct sterilization method
NÜVE steam sterilizers are pre-programmed with a number of programs. Be sure to select the post appropriate program related to the type of material that you are placing in the machine. In order to optimize the results, do not mix materials of different types, but group similar materials to be sterilized at the same time. You will then be able to apply the ideal conditions. For example, whereas most biological materials can be sterilized by being subjected to 134 °C for 4 minutes, prions require the application of this temperature for 20 minutes because of their resistance to heat.
